Afghanistan: When Women Set Themselves on Fire

Awhile back I said I would have more to say on the fact that there was no real news. It didn’t seem very worthwhile and I never got around to it. But this old story brings up another old story. Where is the hue and cry? The women’s libbers should be pissing in the streets and burning their nipples over this. They and PETA and other so called bleeding hearts don’t really care about anything except their own agenda. They don’t care about animals or rights or anything else as long as they get their own way and the special privileges they desire. It’s always been this way and it’s politics as usual and not pleasant to write about. But although I am a macho kind of guy and think a woman should care for her family first, this pisses me off. My father was a badass and a mean drunk, but he raised me to be a gentleman. He’d have killed me!!!!
Time story:
Fawzia felt like she had no way out. Married off to her cousin at age 16, she had been beaten routinely by her husband and in-laws in their poor rural home in Paktia province for the first three years of her marriage. She complained bitterly to her parents, but no solution seemed imminent. Marriage had become too much for her to bear. Then, after she saw her brother-in-law strike his wife on the head with a gun, Fawzia finally did what she had threatened to do many times before: she doused herself in cooking fuel and struck a match.
