Diminishing the Constitution

It is certainly no surprise for gun owners to see the New York Times run a story belittling the United States Constitution.

After all, the Times has worked for decades to devalue our founding document.

“[I]ts influence is waning,” opines the Times. It is “terse and old, and it guarantees relatively few rights.” The paper faults the Constitution for being difficult to amend and reflective of the times in which it was written. While the Times does not go so far as to claim the U.S. Constitution has been bad for America, it does lament that it is of “little current use to, say, a new African nation.”

But it was a much bigger shock when the Times reported in the same story that Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a sitting associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and grande dame of the Court’s liberal voting bloc, shares the Times’ dim view of the Constitution.AmmoLand.com

Global Warming Hoax – Now Killing People

By Friday, February 10th, an estimated 500 Europeans had died from the freezing weather gripping the continent.

This is the price they and British citizens are paying for embracing the global warming hoax, spending billions for wind power when they should have been building coal-fired and other sources of energy to heat their homes and businesses.

The nation’s policies are controlled by the most environmentally insane administration in its history, wasting billions on so-called green energy. Its new budget raises taxes and proposes a trillion-dollar deficit without any significant effort to cut the spending that has left this and future generations in debt while the price of gas soars to new heights.

America and the rest of the world have been horribly deceived by the United Nations Intergovernmental Climate Change Panel that continues to drive the global warming hoax. The lying scientists who got on the global warming gravy train, the politicians that embraced it, and the media that misled millions are all culpable, all responsible.

They should be driven from office, defunded, and chased through the streets like villagers in pursuit of Frankenstein.Alan Caruba

Sandwiches or Freedom?

So let’s engage our imaginations here for a moment, and envision a scenario where the Republican presidential candidate, whoever he is, campaigns on the fact that we have way too much government in our lives, that freedom is a special gift, and that people should take control over their own destinies. Now imagine our current president telling people that if he isn’t re-elected, they might have to pay for their own homes, and give up their “free” cell phones and cell phone service.

Scottish scientist and Noble Prize winner John Boyd Orr once remarked, “If people have to choose between freedom and sandwiches, they will take sandwiches.” Or “re-negotiated” mortgages and cell phones.

2012 will tell us whether or not the sandwich-eaters are now an American majority. Arnold Ahlert

THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER

David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D., Professor of Economics has reduced our tax system down to beer – sounds odd, but in the simplicity of this little example the true nature of the unfair taxation of the wealthiest sector of our society floats to the top
THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten
comes to $100…

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
like this…

A Not Romney

When Michelle Malkin trashes a person or an issue, she goes all out, veering left and right to make sure she leaves nothing unscathed. She makes unwise choices about small but important things in doing so, just to completely destroy her adversaries. But she was right about one thing. Not Romney doesn’t have to be Newt. She offered the voters a choice. Now they can choose to choose. Four states already did. It’s up to the voters.

A Defining Moment

Governor Mitt Romney’s statement about not worrying about the poor has been treated as a gaffe in much of the media, and those in the Republican establishment who have been rushing toward endorsing his coronation as the GOP’s nominee for president — with 90 percent of the delegates still not yet chosen — have been trying to sweep his statement under the rug.

But Romney’s statement about not worrying about the poor — because they “have a very ample safety net” — was followed by a statement that was not just a slip of the tongue, and should be a defining moment in telling us about this man’s qualifications as a conservative and, more important, as a potential President of the United States.

Numbers Don’t Lie, Liberals Do

Republicans are worried sick that the Democrats will be able to use all the nasty sound bites from the GOP debates in the general election. I’m not too concerned for a number of reasons, but the main one is that the GOP will merely have to produce ads in which we show Barack Obama saying, “I’m pledging to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term in office” and “If I don’t get the unemployment rate under 7%, I deserve to be a one-term president.”Burt Prelutsky
