The Same God?

By Cal Thomas
Both liberals and conservatives claim to pray to the same God, but for different results. Abraham Lincoln noted this conflict in his Second Inaugural Address: “Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. … The prayers of both could not be answered.”

Perhaps what’s needed is less praying for results favorable to one side and more listening to what the One to whom each side is praying has already said.

Democrat ‘Budget Plan’: Attack the Tea Party and Misquote Reagan

By Larry Elder
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews quoted part of a 1987 Reagan address: “Congress consistently brings the government to the edge of default. … This brinkmanship threatens the holders of government bonds and those who rely on Social Security and veterans benefits. Interest rates would skyrocket, instability would occur in financial markets, and the federal deficit would soar. The United States has a special responsibility to itself and the world to meet its obligations.”

Nice try.

Reagan’s address did not end there. Here’s the part the Matthews skipped over: “For those who say more taxes will solve our deficit problem, they are wrong. Every time Congress increases taxes, the deficit does not decrease, spending increases. It’s time for a clear and consistent policy to reduce the federal budget deficit. … You don’t need more taxes to balance the budget. Congress needs the discipline to stop spending more, and that can be done with the passage of a constitutional amendment to balance the budget. … But I … will not permit Congress to dismantle our national defense, to jeopardize arms reduction or to increase your taxes. I am determined that will not happen.”

Obama’s ‘Balanced’ Approach

By Thomas Sowell
Barack Obama’s political genius is his ability to say things that will sound good to people who have not followed the issues in any detail — regardless of how obviously fraudulent what he says may be to those who have. Shameless effrontery can be a huge political asset, especially if uninformed voters outnumber those who are informed.

At the heart of the political games being played in Washington is taking credit and putting blame on the other guy. That is the game that Obama played flawlessly in his speech.

Criminal Safe Zones

Ammoland.com
Within a couple a years of the enactment of the Kohl amendment, two disaffected teenagers walked into Columbine High School secure in the knowledge that they would be the only ones in the school who were armed.

And, of course, Columbine triggered a slew of copycat episodes – laying a mounting string of innocent casualties at the feet of Herb Kohl and his misbegotten legislation.

It’s time to say NO to criminal safe zones. And a great place to start is the blatantly unconstitutional gun free school zones act.

Thankfully, Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) agrees and has introduced legislation to do just that.

The Village Idiot

By Jim Mullen
“I told them what you told me. They put me on hold for five minutes and then said: ‘You’re right, we do have nine copies in the store. But we don’t have?your?copy, the copy you ordered.'”

Read this and see why a failed government should not be given more power to run your life and no business should be prevented from failing.

Important News

By Argus Hamilton
Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel ripped ABC News for asking him about why he put his kids in private school. They go to the University of Chicago’s Laboratory School. Just the school’s name makes it sound like he’d rather trust his kids to Dr. Frankenstein than the teachers union.

Throw Grannie under the bus

There’s some truth to the Dem’s claim of Repubs trying to wheel Grannie off the cliff. The Republican party is complicit in the stealing of her life savings to provide pork. Everybody is whining about how much SS costs. The money was taken out to pay for this sixty five years ago. And FICA taxes are still being collected. The conservatives feel that they should be entitled to use this money for their pet projects instead of paying their debt to Grannie and her grandchildren.

How many of you know horror stories of decrepit people denied SS and people who were just allergic to work getting a swift OK? Ever seen somebody park in a handicapped spot and jump out and run in the store? SS was run the same way as the handicap sticker program. SS needs to be cleaned up, but just because pundits and politicians don’t work is no reason to raise the retirement age. Maybe pundits and politicians should be required to get real jobs when they turn sixty.

To sum up, the government should pay what it owes, quit borrowing, and throw illegals, GM, UN, etc. under the bus. SS is not broke. The government is not broke. Politicians are morally bankrupt.

Devil in the details–and Whitehouse

“We have often heard that the devil is in the details. But these days, I’m afraid he’s in the Oval Office. Who else would have run on the promise to radically transform America? Who else would have thought that America, of all places, required a radical transformation? If a normal human being were asked which countries could use an overhaul, he wouldn’t be thinking of the United States. Would he mention Russia and Venezuela? No doubt. Would he have China, Yemen and North Korea, on the short list? Absolutely. How about Saudi Arabia, Syria, Cuba and Iran? Indubitably.
On the other hand, it’s actually the one promise Obama has kept. But, who else but he and Satan would even suggest that a nation created by such giants as Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison and Adams, had to wait 232 years for a leftwing community organizer to fix what wasn’t broken?
And when this arrogant pipsqueak chastises the Republicans in Congress for doing nothing about the debt crisis when they’re the ones who presented and voted for Paul Ryan’s budget plan months ago while this schmuck has been off golfing and fund-raising, does he really believe we take his words seriously? Great men, it’s said, speak truth to power; Obama speaks power to truth.” –columnist Burt Prelutsky

The man without a plan

By Mark Steyn
The only “plan” Barack Obama has put on paper is his February budget. Were there trillions and trillions of savings in that? Er, no. It increased spending and doubled the federal debt.

How about Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader? Has he got a plan? No. The Democratic Senate has shown no interest in producing a budget for two-and-a-half years. Unlike the president, Sen. Reid can’t even be bothered pretending he’s interested in spending reductions. But he is interested in spending, and, if that’s your bag, boring things like budgets only get in the way.
