Anti-Iraq War/ Bush-Haters Squirm

By Larry Elder
“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation,” then-presidential candidate Barack Obama said in December 2007.

Nirvana on the Potomac

By Rod Pennington
While 2010 was an unusually bad year for Democrats, don’t let the elections results fool you. If you’re a Democratic congressman or senator and you kiss the ring of the trial lawyers and public employee unions and genuflect when you hear “a woman’s right to choose”, you pretty much have lifetime job security. Nearly every Democratic incumbent who lost last November had fallen out of favor with one or more of the Democrat’s Holy Trinity. Fiscally conservative “Blue Dogs” and pro-life Democrats are the ones who were sent packing and not those who pray regularly at the pro-lawyer, pro-union and pro-abortion altars.

Our National Interests

The same pundits who say we have lots of money to fund a war of aggression in a country where we have no national interest, and keep yammering about what we owe the Chinese, are also the ones who say we have no funds to pay the American for what he paid taxes.

The American taxpayer is not only ripped off for Unconstitutional giveaways, but the taxes taken for specific purposes is siphoned off for more illegal activities. It’s bad enough that the taxpayer is being robbed, but the gov’t isn’t performing the duties for which it was formed. The Supremes have said that the people have no right to protection from violent criminals, but that the gov’t must protect known criminals from violations of rights not in the law or the Constitution.

The gov’t not only is overstepping their authority, but is not performing their duties. The financial crisis and the national debt are momentous difficulties we must confront, but the solution to all our problems is simply to require the gov’t to perform their legal responsibilities. The voters forced Crockett out for a lot less than todays politicians have or have not done.

“It’s a simple answer after all.” Ronald Reagan

Red Dawn et al

There’s a lot of speculation about the remake of Red Dawn. Did they change the characters to please red China? Did they change them to please the American people because we like the Chinese? Did they change them because we don’t like the North and want to see them get theirs from American kids? A better reason is that it could have been embarrassing for their darling president.

The New World Order is in full swing. Another sovereign country is being attacked by the peace loving UN. We interceded for the moslem terrorists in Bosnia, hung the enemy of our enemy in Iraq, and now we’re saving the terrorist thugs in Libya. (Not that there’s anything to choose from.)

And let’s see, the Japs (Who are always bitching if we get anything nuclear near their island. Or anything else we do.) put their nuclear backup generators at sea level. Duh!

And our progressive leader is calling for more gun rights compromise. That’s more surrender. Compromise would be if they gave us something for a change. What part of compromise don’t they understand?

What part of Constitution don”t they understand? Hey, it’s a living breathing document. I think it’s evolved into a law that says the Feds can’t tax or make laws. I’ll bet the Supremes who vote for that one will be impeached smartly. Whatcha think?

Another snout at the public trough

By Paul Greenberg
There you have the definitive summary of what makes so many Americans develop, shall we say, a certain skepticism when one more politician confuses the public interest with his own. It was a familiar type in the last century — and still is. Some things never change.

Viability of Conservatism

By Arnold Ahlert
For decades, conservatives have endured the brickbats of progressive arrogance, with any resistance to their worldview labeled as “mean-spirited,” “racist,” “homophobic,” “xenophobic,” “misogynistic,” “imperialistic,” etc., etc. ad nauseam. This is one American who’s had enough, and it’s way past time to call a spade a spade: can conservatism survive without progressivism? Without a scintilla of a doubt. Can progressivism survive without conservatism? Not the proverbial snowball’s chance in hell.

Blacks and Republicans

By Thomas Sowell
Although Republicans would have a strong case, none of that matters when they don’t make the case in the first place.

Yet another area in which Democrats are boxed in politically is their making job protection for members of teachers’ unions more important than improving education for students in the public schools. No one loses more from this policy than blacks, for many of whom education is their only chance for economic advancement.

But none of this matters so long as Republicans who want the black vote think they have to devise earmarked benefits for blacks, instead of explaining how Republicans’ general principles, applied to all Americans, can do more for blacks than the Democrats’ welfare state approach.

NRA Negotiating with Obama?

Georgia Gun Owners:
Is the NRA up to it’s old tricks? They were instrumental in the passage of the Brady Instant Gun Owner Registration Scheme in 1994.

Surely they haven’t been negotiating with Obama administration officials on a new gun-rights “compromise”?

Will they be in the aforementioned “formal meetings”?

ACTION: I suggest you make ONE call right now. I already have. Our board has. Let’s get some calls into the NRA-ILA today.

Demand that they disclose to their members any formal or informal meetings that they are having with the anti-gun Obama administration, or left-wing Congressional leaders.

Here’s the number to contact the NRA-ILA: 800-392-8683

Make the call as soon as you can. To speak to a staffer working for the NRA-ILA, press “4? when prompted.

This has me worried. We’ve seen this “negotiation” game before.

Stay active and involved. You and I can make a difference.

Tame Cowboys

By Mark Steyn
Once upon a time, the cowboy embodied the rugged individualism of the frontier. In Harry Reid’s world, he embodies dependency without end. To “preserve” the “tradition,” it is necessary to invert everything the tradition represents: From true grit to federally funded grit. Thus America, bouncing along in the Dead Wood Stage of history.
