Who’s “news”

Once again, “you know who” is badmouthing tea partiers. You know. The one with the big patriot website. Did the lamestream media blast the Dems when they crashed the housing market and the economy? They blamed Bush. Did they get all over O’Obama over all his scandals? Now you want patriots to compromise America so the press will get after the WH? Get real!

“There are several reasons I believe the American Dream is gone forever. For one, reality tells me that changes made when Democrats are in office are set in concrete while Republican gains are easily reversed.”Doug Gamble
Giving away the farm and keeping a horse to ride away on is not a compromise. If you give it away, what they will own is the farm. They will not own the guilt. And you want the Republicans to compromise their principles and the people who voted for them.

Remember. It’s the Republican sequester, the Tea Party shutdown, and Bush’s economy. The “news” will never be “dominated” by bad news about Dems.

It’s not the Economy

I’m tired of hearing about “the Economy” like there’s some malaise in the private sector. Business is booming. It’s a seller’s market. You’ll buy what they want to sell or do without. I’m tired of hunting high and low for things I need.

I was counting the small pickups as I drove to town the other day. It accounted for a big part of the autos I saw. And they quit making them. Most of the small pickups are older and people are hanging on to them for dear life. Those Tundras are tanks now. Toyota didn’t get the message either. All the US made small trucks kept getting bigger and fancier and were made for rich kids. If you want a small economy truck, do you want 16 inch wheels, a gas guzzling engine, a five hundred dollar set of keys, and a ladder to get in it? They quit making them before people quit buying them.

There are pipe factories in my area and several distributors. You guessed it. No pipe. The government is the biggest employer in the area and everyone else is out of work. Sure the government is responsible for a lot of unemployment, but companies could make money if they made products. Wait for it.

Yes it’s time for my rant about capitalism and socialism again. They’re about as close to the same felons as communism and Nazi ism. All four are predicated on the government meddling in your affairs and taking from you to benefit less deserving people. If you’re for any one of them, you’re greedy and covetous. You’re a bad neighbor and a curse on society.

Inarticulate Republicans

You might think that the stakes are high enough for Republicans to put in some serious time trying to clarify their message. As the great economist Alfred Marshall once said, facts do not speak for themselves. If we are waiting for the Republicans to do the speaking, the country is in big trouble.

Democrats, by contrast, are all talk. They could sell refrigerators to Eskimos before Republicans could sell them blankets.

Indeed, Democrats sold Barack Obama to the American public, which is an even more amazing feat, considering his complete lack of relevant experience and questionable (at best) loyalty to the values and institutions of this country.

Get involved at the local level to fight Common Core
It is important to get and remain engaged against common core in our child’s school!

As the new school year is underway parents should engage their local school district by doing the following:

Review what and how your children are learning.
Attend their children’s open house events to meet and get to know their children’s teachers.
Attend your local school board meetings
Develop an action plan for bringing concerns to the attention of educators, district administrators, and school board members. We have a unique decentralized system of 500 school districts and boards in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvanians Against Common Core is developing “Activist Tools for Pennsylvania Parents” that will provide important “how to” information for working effectively at the local school district level.

PA Legislation to protect student and parent privacy !

Pennsylvanians against Common Core legislative activists are working with key legislators in the House and Senate to develop student and parent privacy protection. Once this legislation is ready for introduction activists will be asked to contact their respective PA House members to ask them to co-sponsor the privacy legislation.

Please continue to promote the Pennsylvanians Against Common Core on-line petition and Facebook page. If you would like to have a spokesperson speak to your group concerning the problems and questions concerning Common Core, please contact us at contactpacc2013@gmail.com.

Weeping For America

As much as I like and respect Rush Limbaugh, having been a regular listener since he went national 25 years ago and knowing he is right 99.9% of the time, I sadly disagree with his recent observation that the American Dream is not dead. Not only do I believe it is — and how I would love to be proven wrong — I do not see a scenario whereby it can be resurrected. In the months since last November’s election I have gone beyond pessimism to what I see as mournful reality.

There are several reasons I believe the American Dream is gone forever. For one, reality tells me that changes made when Democrats are in office are set in concrete while Republican gains are easily reversed.

Jeb Bush’s latest Common Core snit fit

One of the Bush foundation’s behemoth corporate sponsors is Pearson, the multi-billion-dollar educational publishing and testing conglomerate. Pearson snagged $23 million in contracts to design the first wave of PARCC test items. The company holds a $250 million contract with Florida to design and publish its state tests. Pearson designed New York’s Common Core-aligned assessments and is also the exclusive contractor for Texas state tests.

And in Los Angeles this summer, Pearson sealed a whopping $30 million taxpayer-subsidized deal to supply the city’s schools with 45,000 iPads pre-loaded with Pearson Common Core curriculum apps. That’s $678 per iPad, $200 more than the standard cost, with scant evidence that any of this shiny edu-tech will do anything to improve the achievement bottom line.
