Where to Cut Spending?

By Cal Thomas
The question thrown in the face of tea party activists and other conservative Republicans when they talk of cutting spending is, “Where would you cut?”

Leftists, Progressives and Socialists

By Walter Williams
Nazism is a form of socialism. In fact, Nazi stands for National Socialist German Workers’ Party. Nazis murdered 20 million of their own people and in nations they captured. The unspeakable acts of Adolf Hitler’s Socialist Workers’ Party pale in comparison to the horrors committed in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Between 1917 and 1987, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin and their successors murdered, or were otherwise responsible for the deaths of, 62 million of their own people. Between 1949 and 1987, Mao Tse-tung and his successors were responsible for the deaths of 76 million Chinese. The most authoritative tally of history’s most murderous regimes is in a book by University of Hawaii’s Professor Rudolph J. Rummel, “Death by Government.” A wealth of information is provided at his website: (http://bit.ly/WgWaf).

Congratulations Chile!

Congratulations Chile!
Chile may not be the most libertarian country, but if it had been another socialist country (submarine fiascos for example), the 33 miners probably could have kissed it goodbye. The cojones, can do spirit, and patriotism of El Presidente, the miners, and the Chilean people are enough to make any American proud.

I don’t know if it was my prayers or theirs that were answered, but they deserved it. The miners stayed the course, the people prayed, and the president did all the right things and kept up morale. He looked out for the little guy. We could all learn a thing or two.

Congratulations Chile! Congratulations miners! Congratulations people! Congratulations and well done Senor Presidente!

EASY TEST

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”..

Government Greed

By Thomas Sowell
Those who are always accusing people in the private sector of “greed” almost never accuse government of greed, no matter what it does. Indeed, the question of whether the government is greedy almost never comes up, so most of us probably never think about it.

America First card

By Michelle Malkin
Oh, this is side-splitting: After exporting U.S. jobs, importing foreign debt and kowtowing to global thugs shamelessly over the past two years, the Obama administration is now playing the America First card. Democrats deserve a Guinness World Record award for their election-season cognitive dissonance.

Restoring the Rule of Law

By Arnold Ahlert
One of the most important elections in the history of the country is coming up in three weeks. Americans will be asked to decide many things regarding the direction this country will take in the next two years. First and foremost, Americans must decide whether they will continue to empower a party and a president for whom the rule of law remains a secondary consideration to the implementation of the progressive agenda.

Obama agency busts plan to sell rifles to Americans

By Bob Unruh
The Obama-run Washington bureaucracy has classified a common and reliable rifle, the M1 Garand, as a “threat to public safety in the U.S.,” and the State Department has canceled plans by the Republic of Korea to return tens of thousands of surplus rifles to the U.S. for sale in the consumer market.

Invisible Victims

Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) represents Congress’ way to force manufacturers to produce more fuel-efficient cars. Manufacturers meet CAFE standards by producing lighter weight and hence less crash-worthy cars. According to a Brookings Institution study, a 500-lb weight reduction of the average car increased annual highway fatalities by 2,200-3,900 and serious injuries by 11,000 and 19,500 per year. A National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration study demonstrated that reducing a vehicle’s weight by only 100 pounds increased the fatality rate by as much as 5.63 percent for light cars, 4.70 percent for heavier cars and 3.06 percent for light trucks. These rates translated into additional traffic fatalities of 13,608 for light cars, 10,884 for heavier cars and 14,705 for light trucks between 1996 and 1999.

Congressmen have full knowledge of these life and death statistics but doing the bidding of environmentalists and other interest groups is more important than American lives. There ought to be a way to make the invisible victims of Congress visible.
