This is a heads up regarding Progressive Auto Insurance. You know who they are. They are the ones with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress all dressed in white.

Obfuscation

By Arnold Ahlert
As an older American, one of the most clarifying moments I remember was the transition from the Carter administration to the Reagan administration with respect to the USSR. Carter embraced the typical liberal mindset of the times, the idea that, although the U.S. and the USSR had different systems, both were “equally deserving of respect.” Reagan? He called the Iron Curtain, Communist thugs exactly what they were: an “evil empire.” Perhaps nothing both infuriates and terrifies progressives more than clarity, especially when that clarity illustrates the utter bankruptcy of their ideology. To wit:

Just Another Useless Opinion

Once again there’s a dearth of news. Drugs, Islam, politics, it’s all the same ol’, same ol’. It’s political smears or opinion that’s almost word for word on the same ol’ things. Same ol’ opinions on the right, same ol’ opinions on the left. But nobody wants to go all the way back to the Constitution.

How about news of a Constitutional amendment prohibiting political parties? That’s what I’d like to see! Then you could vote for America without some one saying you were throwing away your vote.

Anybody got a solution for nominating candidates? I know, the American public is too stupid to elect Americans anyway. But all professional pols are socialists by nature. They vote for the biggest population that has special interests. Right and Constitutional rights be damned.

Maybe every state could nominate candidates and their reps could go to a convention and elect the most American nominees for the general election. It wouldn’t be any more expensive than the way it’s done now. At any rate, the present system is broken. Not that it ever worked.

Maybe the electorate should vote for committee members? Where is the Supreme with their “one man, one vote” when you need them? For a short time only, the system can be fixed. Term limits can help, but there needs to be more accountability of gov’t and elected officials. The “Pledge” doesn’t solve any of these problems.

Sure we need a balanced budget, etc., etc., but the real problem is that the gov’t, especially incumbents rule the people. Political parties are especially prone to cater to special interests. Unless Americans act now to become the greatest concern of pols, the special interest will eventually destroy the greatest system of government on earth.

Once they’ve finished wiping their asses on the Constitution, it will be worthless. And so will all your hopes and dreams.

Depends on your definition of “Greed”

“Politicians never accuse you of ‘greed’ for wanting other people’s money — only for wanting to keep your own money.” –columnist Joe Sobran (1946-2010)

Law-abiding illegals?

You’ve got to hand it to our cultural elitists. They are so suffused with a sense of their own superiority, they think they can sell something that almost three-quarters of the public stand firmly against. Thus, it should surprise no one that two of the “anointed few,” New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, and News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch, testified Thursday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration about the necessity of providing amnesty, as Murdoch put it, for “law-abiding, illegal immigrants.” Law-abiding illegals? George Orwell would be proud.

Thug Huggers

By Debra Saunders
On Oct. 28, 1980, Albert Greenwood Brown snatched Susan Jordan, 15, raped and strangled her to death with her own shoelace. Brown, who was on parole after raping a 14-year-old girl, then spent the night tormenting the dead girl’s parents over the phone, telling them that they would never see their daughter again and where to find the girl’s half-nude corpse and belongings. A jury sentenced him to death for that crime.

Last Wednesday, almost 30 years later, Brown was scheduled to be executed. Of course, it didn’t happen.

‘under God’ dropped

Barack Obama twice in recent days has dropped from a quotation from the Declaration of Independence a reference to the “Creator,” and now a columnist at First Things has documented how a self-described “leading progressive legal organization” has simply dropped “under God” from the Gettysburg address. Boob tube

“If a Martian sat down and watched TV for a week during this new season, he would conclude that Americans worship sex, not God, that a large segment of the population is homosexual, and that our attention spans are about three seconds,” said Robert Knight, senior writer for Coral Ridge Ministries and author of the newly updated book “Fighting for America’s Soul.” Brian Fitzpatrick
